The Lesson Experience

Jim greatly respects the individuality of each student, and enjoys helping to find the best music path possible. Building rapport with each student and each student family is very important to him.

Lessons are reading- and listening-focused. Students are regularly learning new pieces while continuing to integrate the nuanced details of recent assignments.

To meet each student’s individual needs, Jim selects relevant repertory and exercises. Styles include classical, jazz, Broadway and pop.  He has compiled extensive music libraries, both print and digital. Over time, he assists students in building and organizing their own libraries of music.
